Best of 2025 (Part 1): Bassline Gifts & East London Heat

Alright, Blaze here. Can you believe we’re hitting the final straight of 2025? It’s been a proper year for digging out that raw, bass-heavy club fire, and now it’s time for the ceremonial selection: my personal Top 10 tracks, split across two weekly drops.

This first half is dedicated to the five cuts that absolutely dominated the decks, both here in East London and on my streams. It’s a mix of big collaborations and raw MOB heat, all dripping in that future-retro flavour—heavy 90s spirit but clearly engineered for 2025. This time of year might be all about turkey and tinsel, but for Ministry of Breaks, it’s about acknowledging the tunes and the artists who kept the underground moving. Consider this my gift to your speakers.

🧢 MOB Merch Spotlight

We closed out 2025 with the launch of the MOB record label, but the brand remains focused on championing underground bass culture. Support us by rocking the merch and keeping the energy flowing. Every purchase keeps the basslines rolling into the new year.

MOB 2025: Local Heat & Sound System Culture

This year was defined by raw bass, massive crowds, and incredible venue moments. Here are a few highlights from the home turf:

  • The Queens Yard Summer Party (Hackney Wick): Kicking off festival season in my backyard. The crowds here are proper East Londoners who know how to party—an annual highlight for that special energy.

  • Cyberdog (Camden Market): A bucket list gig at the iconic 90s institution. The only rule was to "keep it pumping." We went as hard and dark as the basement could handle.

  • UK Rave Spots:
Big respect to Whoosh in Cambridge for having me alongside Finger Lickin' heavyweights, and the serious bass pressure at the Stanton Sessions Halloween Special at Ministry of Sound.

  • MOB Culture:
Shout out to the consistency of the MOB Monday Twitch streams, the networking and party vibes at the Open Deck Nights, and the crucial airtime on Like That Underground, Data Transmission, Underground Kollektiv, and Infra Red FM.

Top 10 of 2025 part 1

Track 1 — “They Call It Music” – Blaze DJ (Ministry of Breaks)

Yes, I’m starting with my own track—because if you're launching a label, you need to lead from the front. This was my personal statement for 2025: big drums, relentless sub-bass, and no compromise. It captured the exact sound I’m pushing and became the calling card for the new MOB label. This is pure, undiluted, peak-time future-retro fire.

Track 2 — “I had 2 Go (Freestylers Remix)” – GreenFlamez (Freestylers / ElectroBreakz)

You know when The Freestylers step up for a remix, it’s going to be essential. This cut completely rebuilt the original with their signature energy, transforming it into a massive club weapon. The groove is relentless, the production is huge, and it was a guaranteed floor-filler in every set I played this year. Proper crossover fire.

Track 3 — “Horn Dog” – Dominic B UK, Borez (UK) (Rebel Bass)

This track is an absolute masterclass in stripped-back, raw funk. Dominic B UK and Borez delivered a tune that just grooves relentlessly. It’s got that classic, slightly cheeky warehouse flavour, but with the punchy low-end necessary for any modern sound system. Essential, heads-down club music that you just can't stand still to.

Track 4 — “Forward Motion Dubplate” – Freestylers, Lena Cullen, Ctrl-Z (Break Beat Connection)

Another massive collaborative effort that deserved top billing this year. This track is a perfect blend of weighty drums and sophisticated production, maintaining that classic dubplate feel while sounding incredibly clean and powerful. It was the perfect track for those sets that started atmospheric and ended up in pure rave territory.

Track 5 — “Muita” – Yo Speed (83)

Yo Speed rarely misses, and "Muita" was a perfect example of their ability to deliver pure, unadulterated breakbeat energy. Bouncy, infectious, and packed with that essential, rubbery bassline that just makes the room smile. This was a fantastic party-starter and a reliable mover in any mid-set build-up.
