East London heat featuring a massive MOB debut, serious bassline fire, and a required 90s Throwback.
Blaze here, and if you’ve been looking for that future-retro fuel injection to get you through the start of December, you’ve found it.
We’re deep into the annual music dig, pulling out five tracks that genuinely move the needle—from the sharpest new cuts keeping the UK bass sound alive, right through to the foundational pillars of club and hip-hop culture. This week feels especially huge because our very own Ministry of Breaks label is dropping a fresh piece of heavy artillery for the Track of the Week. That East London heat is real, and we’re here to share it with the world. Turn it up, get messy, and dive into the low end.

TRACK OF THE WEEK
Track of the Week — “They Call It Music” – Blaze DJ (Ministry of Breaks)
Right, let’s get straight to the point: this is my current declaration of love for bass culture. "They Call It Music" is built for the sound system—massive, echoing drums, a relentless, deep sub-bass pulse, and a subtle but powerful vocal hook that drills right into your memory. This is a heads-down, peak-time affair. Stick this on when the lights are low and the crowd is ready for serious business.
Monday Mover — “Burn” – Steppa Style, Bangor, EZBZ (Break Beat Connection)Kicking off the week with proper weight. "Burn" is a tough, no-nonsense bass-heavy club weapon built around a weighty, driving rhythm and classic breaks. This track is perfect for either a late warm-up slot to set a serious groove, or for getting those driving miles done on a cold Monday morning. Massive sound system pressure from the jump. |
Tuesday Tunage — “Ready To Sizzle” – Mosky (Triple Seven Recordings)This tune lives up to its name. Mosky delivers a scorching piece of bass-driven fire on Triple Seven. Expect sharp, snappy drums, a bubbling, elastic bassline, and just enough rave flavour to make this an undeniable floor filler. This is a high-energy cut designed to shift gears from warm-up to main event. |
Thursday Throwback — “Can I Kick It?” – A Tribe Called Quest (Jive Records)Time for a necessary rewind to the roots of the culture. While not a breakbeat track, "Can I Kick It?" (1990) is pure, undeniable future-retro gold. This is the definition of a smooth groove, built on an iconic bass sample and timeless delivery. This track is for the warm-up, the after-party chill, or any time you need pure soul and vibe. The track that proves hip-hop and rave share a common DNA. |
Friday Frills — “Iron Hands” – Phrenetic (Guerrilla Tactics)Phrenetic closes the week with the expertly crafted "Iron Hands." This is a gritty, robust underground club cut—not just breaks, but a whole-sound piece of bass work that feels intricate and powerful. The bass texture is immense, and the groove is complex without losing its dancefloor functionality. A serious selection for dedicated heads. | ![]() |
