Best of 2025 (Part 2): Future-Retro & 2026 Focus
Blaze here, and welcome to the very last dispatch of 2025. It’s been an absolute riot of a year—defined by getting out there, playing the music we love, and crucially, launching the Ministry of Breaks label.
This second half of the countdown contains the final five tracks that simply had to be included in the best of the best. These are the future-retro firecrackers that perfectly sum up the raw, unapologetic bass sound we champion. As we close out the year, we’re also reflecting on the global gigs and charting the course for MOB in 2026—with live streams and Open Decks potentially making a return. Thanks for riding the bassline with us this year. Let’s finish strong.

Thank you for being part of the Ministry of Breaks journey in 2025. Every purchase of merch supports the artists, fuels the MOB label, and keeps the raw, underground future-retro sound moving forward.
See you in the new year!
MOB 2025: Global Reach & The Road Ahead
2025 was a year of pushing boundaries—globally and creatively.
Bucket List Gigs (Ibiza): Massive moments playing a sunset gig at Iticha in San Antonio, and a prestigious slot at 528 for Pikes presents.
Industry & Conference: Repping the MOB ethos at international events like International Music Summit (IMS) Ibiza and Bright Music Conference (BMC).
MOB Next Steps: I made the decision to scale back some things, including saying farewell to residencies at The Heathcote and The Duke, to focus on the launch of the MOB record label and spending more time in the studio producing.
Looking to 2026: We may see the return of the Live streams on Twitch / YouTube and the Open Deck Nights—the foundations of our community.
Top 10 of 2025 part 2
Track 6 — “Exodus” – Jormek (Samay Records)Jormek absolutely nailed the deep, sophisticated roller vibe with "Exodus." This track is all about texture and atmosphere, built on a steady, hypnotic beat and a bassline that just sits perfectly in the mix. It was a staple for building tension and atmosphere in the early hours of a set. A brilliant piece of intricate, future-retro design. 🔗 Listen / buy: |
Track 7 — “Lost Keys Instrumental Extended Mix” – Lively Beats (Studio A08)Sometimes, the simplest grooves are the most effective. "Lost Keys" is pure breaks, straight-up raw energy with a stripped-back, analogue feel. The instrumental version was perfect for mixing and layering, providing that immediate, raw energy that reminds you why you fell in love with this music in the first place. Essential dancefloor filler. 🔗 Listen / buy: |
Track 8 — “Play With Fire” – Afghan Headspin, Zenmonkey, JimmyP UB (Break Beat Connection)This was a serious collaborative effort that delivered a track packed with attitude. "Play With Fire" is gritty, powerful, and has a dangerous edge, perfect for those dark, late-night sets. The combined production strength here gave it a heavy, unmistakable club sound. A highlight from the Break Beat Connection catalogue this year. 🔗 Listen / buy: |
Track 9 — “I Don't Know” – Blaze DJ (Solid Breaks Records)This track represented a crucial turning point for me this year, marking my increased focus on production and pushing a slightly deeper, more textured sound. "I Don't Know" maintains the heavy drum groove but layers in more melodic and atmospheric elements. It’s a versatile cut that worked just as well driving home as it did driving a club floor. 🔗 Listen / buy: |
Track 10 — “Checkmate” – Specimen A, Miss Mants (83)Closing out the Top 10 with high-impact, big-room energy. Specimen A and Miss Mants delivered a track that was pure fire—sharp, impactful, and perfectly engineered for modern sound systems. This one blew up every time it was dropped. A fantastic way to cap off the biggest basslines of 2025. 🔗 Listen / buy: |
